This excursion is a good option if you want to watch animals and discover a part of the Natural Reserve “Salinas y Aguada Blanca” with nobody around.
We’ll pick you up with a private vehicle around 7AM for a 2h30-ride toward the Lake Salinas of the Natural Reserve. We’ll have the opportunity to watch a lot of animals as vicunas, llamas, fox, flamingos… and a very rich flora too! We’ll walk to the natural pools located in this area half "salinas" and half lagoon. You may dip your toe in the water or swim a little.

Then, we’ll enjoy the slopes of the Pichu Pichu, where you’ll discover the different plants of the area and especialy the Azorella compacta, known in spanish as Yareta. This plant grows only above 4000 meters.
Return to your hotel in Arequipa in vehicle between 3:00 PM and 3:30 PM.
Option: If you feel headache, we propose you to go back towards Arequipa after the picnic (and so lose altitude) and make a stop after the Chiguata’s village. Then you might walk during an hour in the little canyon of Infernillo and admire waterfalls and the sulfur fumes.
