Around 8:00 AM, departure from Arequipa with our 4 wheels in the direction of the Chachani Volcano. It will take 2h30 of transportation to arrive above 5000 meters. There, we'll start a 2-hour trek around an ancient crater in an arid ecosystem dotted with a few plants like "yareta" to arrive at the base camp located at 5200 meters above sea level (17060 ft). We will set up our tents and the camp there, and we’ll have a part of the afternoon to rest and make exercises of acclimatization. We will enjoy the view on the snow-covered Ampato and Coropuna summits, and also magnificient colors of the end of the day and a starry sky in the evening (it’s an opportunity to make incredible pictures!). Dinner then short night sleep.
