Day 1: Welcome to Peru!
You will be welcomed at the Jorge Chavez airport in Lima by a member of the Peru Exclusive team. Then, you’ll be transfered to your hotel in the modern district of Miraflores which borders the Pacific Ocean. You can rest at your hotel or we can propose you different visits in the capital if you prefer. Overnight stay.
Day 2: Lima - Paracas
After the breakfast, you'll start the private visit of the colonial side of Lima starting with the San Martin Square and the Main Square, where you can admire the cathedral, the Government Palace and the Town Hall. You'll continue with the visit of the Convent of San Francisco and its impressive catacombs. Then, our guide will take us to the archaeological complex of Huaca Pucllana, place extremely sacred for the Incas. To finish this morning, you'll visit the fabulous Larco museum, famous for its collection of pre-Colombian gold and silver artifacts and its samples of erotic art.
The afternoon, you'll have a 4-hour ride in a comfortable bus to Paracas. Lunch served aboard. The landscapes that you will discover on the Pan-American Highway are beautiful. Transfer to your hostel and overnight stay.
Day 3: Paracas and Ballestas Islands - Nazca
Breakfast and then departure by boat to the spectacular Ballestas Islands and their considerable marine wildlife composed by sea lions, penguins, seals and with tens of thousands of birds. On the way back, you'll be able to enjoy the mysterious Candelabrum, large geoglyph overlooking the ocean. You'll continue with the visit of the National Reserve of Paracas where you'll enjoy beaches, deserts, impressive rock formations and some millions of years old fossils. Then, you will take the bus to Nazca and be transferred to your hotel, where you'll spend the night.
Day 4: The mysterious Nazca Lines - Arequipa
Breakfast and then you’ll visit the very interesting Antonini museum. You'll also be able to get up to a structure dominating a part of the lines. As an option, it's possible to fly over the Nazca Lines in a Cessna for about 30 minutes (please notify us when you book your trip). Afterwards, you'll visit the Chauchilla Cemetery where you'll be able to observe mummies and ceramics. Free time before taking your comfortable night bus to Arequipa (by shortening the program of visits, it's also possible to take a bus earlier in order to arrive in Arequipa late in the evening and thus, sleep at the hotel).
Day 5: The majestic White City of Arequipa
Free time in the morning to a gradual acclimatization to the altitude. Indeed, Arequipa is located at 2350 meters above sea level (7709 ft). This city is majestically dominated by three volcanoes: the Misti, the Chachani and the Pichu Pichu (if you want to try the ascent of a volcano, click here). The afternoon, you'll visit the colonial downtown of Arequipa with your private guide and especially the splendid convent of Santa Catalina, one of the most important in South America, and the cloister of the Compania. At the end of the day, you'll appreciate a magnificent sunset on the city. Night in Arequipa.
Day 6: The "Arequipeñas Tradiciones"
Breakfast at your hotel and then you'll go visit the quarries of "Sillar" at the periphery of the city. You'll discover how they extract and mold this white volcanic stone that has given the nickname of Arequipa: the "White City". You'll continue with the visit of the Alpaca Museum where they will explain you the weaving of this soft fiber close to cashmere. Then, it will be time to take a cooking class, as Arequipa is the culinary capital of Peru. The rest of the day is free. You'll be able to go shopping in many craft shops, stroll through its alleys or enjoy the sunshine on the terrace of a cafe. Overnight stay.
Day 7: Arequipa - Colca Valley and Canyon
Breakfast and then you'll take the direction of the Colca Valley and Canyon. You'll cross first the National Reserve "Salinas y Aguada Blanca" where you'll be able to observe vicunas, llamas and alpacas. Then, you'll enter in the Altiplano of the Andean Cordillera and you'll arrive at the highest spot of your stay in Perou, the Mirador of Volcanoes, 4910 meters above sea level (16108 ft.). The panorama is incredible! Afterwards, way down to Chivay where a delicious Andean lunch will wait for you (offered by Peru Exclusive). In the afternoon, you will make an optional little walk to enjoy this so beautiful surrounding nature, and then you will visit hot volcanic springs where you'll have a relaxing bath. Night in Chivay or Yanque.
Day 8: The Colca Canyon - Puno
Breakfast at dawn and then, departure to the "Cross of Condor" Mirador, most likely place to see Andean Condors soaring over the second deepest canyon in the world, the Colca Canyon. It's an amazing spectacle! Then, you'll take back the bus towards Chivay. You'll make some stops and admire the hundreds of pre-Inca terraces and main squares of Yanque and Maca villages. Lunch in Chivay. The afternoon, ride to Puno meanwhile you'll enjoy beautiful landscapes of the Altiplano like the vast lake called "Lagunillas". Transfer and night at your very comfortable hotel.
Day 9: The Titicaca's Lake
After the breakfast, departure for a boat trip to the Islands of Titicaca Lake, the highest navigable lake in the world. You'll start with the Uros floating Islands, which are constructed from rushes. Afterwards, you'll continue with the Island of Amantani where you'll be welcomed by a local family. You'll be settled in a basic room. Walk around during the afternoon, and you'll be able to see the ruins of the Tiwanacu culture. Traditional dance in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 10: Titicaca's Lake and the Island of Taquile
The sunrise on the Royal Cordillera will be a great moment. Then, breakfast before saying goodbye to your sweet host. Afterwards you will take the boat to visit the Taquile Island. You will discover the incredible art of weaving of the local people, recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2005. Lunch on-site. After a little walk, you will take the boat that will get you back to Puno. Transfer to your hotel and overnight stay.
Day 11: Puno-Cusco
Departure early in the morning in a comfortable touristic bus in the direction of Cusco. Your trip will be punctuated with visits, firstly in the village of Pukara, place where the first civilizations of southern Peru have borne. Then, stop at the Raya Pass located at 4310 meters above sea level (14140 ft) where the panorama is splendid. Lunch in Sicuani. The afternoon, visit of the impressive Inca's Temple of Wiracocha. Last stop at the village of Andahuaylillas whose church is considered as the "Sistine Chapel of Peru". Arrival at the end of the day in Cusco, the Inca Capital. Overnight stay.
Day 12: Visit of Cusco and of the Inca ruins
You will wake up in this charming city, cradle of the Inca empire. Then, you will have a private visit of the Cathedral, of the site of the Koricancha also known as the "Temple of the Sun" and of the archaeological Inca sites of Tambomachay, Puka, Pukara, Kenko and the impressive fortress of Sacsayhuaman composed by huge stone blocks arranged with an incredible precision. Free afternoon to go for a walk in this splendid city. Night at the hotel.
Day 13: The Sacred Valley of the Incas
In the morning, you’ll cross the superb Sacred Valley to reach the Inca City of Pisac, one of the most spectacular in the valley. Afterwards you will go down at the village of Pisac where you'll discover a very picturesque craft market. Lunch in Urubamba. In the afternoon, you will continue to go down in the valley to the Inca village of Ollantaytambo to visit its fortress attached on the cliff. This village has very well preserved Inca constructions and little streets. Then, you’ll go by train to the Machu Picchu village; Aguas Calientes. Overnight stay.
Day 14: Discovery of the Machu Picchu
Very early in the morning, you will take a bus shuttle to go up to the Lost City of the Incas, rediscovered a bit more than a century ago. This site of an extraordinary beauty suprises always the visitors with its multitude of terraces, its incredible constructions and its exceptional natural surroundings. You will visit the Machu Picchu, first with a local guide who will explain you its mysterious origins, and then, free time to enjoy this "New Wonder of the World". If you are in a good shape, you can climb the Huayna Picchu where the panorama is exceptional (optional). Then, it will be time to take your train back to Ollantaytambo before being transferred to your hotel in Cusco. Night in Cusco.
Day 15: Cusco - Flight back
Breakfast at your hotel and last moments to say goodbye to these Incas lands full of history. Transfer to the Cusco airport for a flight to Lima (Jorge Chavez Airport) and connection to your international flight.
